Euroleague Basketball continental competitions, both Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and BKT EuroCup, will include a moment of silence this week.
“All Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and BKT EuroCup Round 2 games will have a moment of silence in honor of the victims of the terror attacks in Israel and the ongoing armed conflict,” was the message shared on social media ahead of Round 2 of the Regular Season of both EuroLeague and EuroCup.
The scheduled games will take place between Tuesday and Friday with EuroCup covering the top half of the slate and EuroLeague following at the bottom half. However, this week’s contests involving teams from Israel have been suspended. Both Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv visiting EA7 Emporio Armani Milan in EuroLeague and Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv hosting Wolves in EuroCup will be rescheduled to a later date, as announced earlier this week.
Planning for the Round 3 contests of the teams based in Tel Aviv, Euroleague Basketball switched the venue for Maccabi’s meeting with Valencia and Hapoel’s matchup with Umana Reyer Venice.
Maccabi relocating the team to Cyprus hinted toward resuming the 2023-24 campaign as soon as possible. Therefore, the team coached by Oded Kattash would potentially reach the requirements to return to action next week in Valencia, after the convincing win over Partizan Mozzart Bet in the opening round last week.
Sporting events in Israel, including the Winner League Regular Season, have been put on hold since the start of the ongoing conflict in the country.
