Being officially announced as a new Reyer Venice player before the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Bruno Caboclo never wore the jersey of the Italian team, nor reached Neven Spahija’s club. Instead, he suited up to play alongside Dwayne Bacon with Maccabi Ra’Anana in their NBA preseason tour.
Talking with Sport 5, the Brazilian center commented on his whole situation. “Joining Ra’Anana was a late decision. I changed agents and a lot of things changed for me. This opportunity appeared and I thought it was a good opportunity for me and I’m here and enjoying it”, he first commented.
Regarding his decision to not join Reyer Venice in the BKT EuroCup, he went on to explain his point of view. “I wanted to go there, my previous agent signed a contract for me there at an early stage, but I think the way I played I can reach bigger places. It’s nothing against Venice, but it’s my career. Some people don’t love it, but this is my career”, Bruno Caboclo added.
Moreover, he also touched on a team where he wouldn’t mind taking his talent in the EuroLeague. “Maccabi Tel Aviv is a great team- I have never received an offer from them, if I receive one and it is suitable at that moment, I would love to play there. The Euroleague is a great league and I can play there, and if it’s Maccabi Tel Aviv and I’ll be ready, I’ll do my best”, he said about Maccabi Tel Aviv.
After winning the 2023 Bundesliga with ratiopharm Ulm next to his compatriot Yago dos Santos, Bruno Caboclo represented the Brazilian national team at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, averaging almost a double-double with 16.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
