Real Madrid has begun the 2023-24 season in what looks like an effortless way, unbeaten in every competition so far, including the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. A great part of the credit must be given to Guerschon Yabusele, who was named MVP of the Regular Season Round 2.
Dominating the encounter against Anadolu Efes, won by Chus Mateo’s team 103-80 in Istanbul, the French power forward had 22 points with a perfect 3/3 from beyond the arc, and 7/7 at the line, while also grabbing 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and drawing 4 fouls. All of that for a performance of 39 PIR, which is his career-high in the EuroLeague.
“I was just trying to get the rhythm going and make my teammates feel great. I am not looking at my personal stats. I am just trying to win the game, that’s the most important thing”, the former Boston Celtics and ASVEL player commented right after the win.
Displaying his monster shape also in the Round 1 on-the-road victory against Baskonia, where he went close to a double-double with 18 points and 8 rebounds, he has been averaging 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds, with 62.5% from two, 63.6% from deep, and 100.0% at the charity stripe over his first two EuroLeague appearances with Real Madrid this year.
