Being an unstoppable force on the glass in the 95-81 decisive win against Baskonia, Mathias Lessort collected several career-high numbers, posting up a monster double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds.
Leading over the Basque team, he broke personal records in scoring (23), rebounding (14), two-pointers made (8/16), and offensive rebounds (7). Collecting a performance index rating of 31, overtaking Johannes Thiemann and Mike James at 30 for their respective games against Milan and Maccabi Tel Aviv, he was named this year’s EuroLeague Regular Season Round 5 MVP.
Alongside the former Partizan Belgrade center, Dinos Mitoglou shone during his second straight game since 2022. “I am very happy for him. He worked really hard at practice and we missed him a lot at the beginning of the season. He’s coming back. He’s not even in shape yet. He helped us a lot in the last two games and I am very happy for him”, the French center commented on the Greek power forward.
Beginning the 2023-24 EuroLeague Regular Season with 16.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 59.6% from two-point range, Mathias Lessort has been trying to contribute to the Greek powerhouse’s success. Ergin Ataman’s team stands at a 2-3 record.
