Panathinaikos without Sloukas and Vildoza in Barcelona

By Eurohoops team / info@eurohoops.net

Just when it looked like Panathinaikos had found their rhythm after a win over Olympiacos in Piraeus, Ergin Ataman received bad news. Kostas Sloukas and Luka Vildoza won’t be able to help the team in EuroLeague Round 6 game on the road against Barcelona.

Sloukas got gastroenteritis and even had to spend some hours in the hospital, while the Argentinian didn’t play in the Greek derby due to tendinitis that has been bothering him for days in the Achilles tendon.

They joined Ioannis Papapetrou on the sidelines, and Jerian Grant will likely assume the starting role in their absence, with Dimitris Moraitis, Kyle Guy, and Marius Grigonis expected to have more minutes on the court.

Barcelona is 4-1 after losing to Real Madrid in Round 5, while Panathinaikos is 2-3, after defeating Baskonia in the previous EuroLeague match.

The game will be special for brothers Juancho and Willy Hernangomez, who will face eachother for the first time since returning to European basketball.
