The enthusiasm of Kendrick Nunn highlighted his arrival in Greece. Landing in Athens on Tuesday, he talked about his goals with Panathinaikos.
“I am excited to be here,” he introduced himself to reporters at the Athens International Airport.
Nunn, 28, signed a contract for the remainder of the 2023-24 season to join the team coached by Ergin Ataman.
“I did my homework. Great club with a lot of great history there. And the style of play and the coaches fit my style of play,” he explained his decision echoing statements recently shared by the Greek powerhouse, “I wanted to give it a shot here.”
“He wants me to come in and be myself. Come in and score the ball, lead the team, and help win games. That is what I am about. That is what I do,” he commented on talks with Ataman.
In Round 7 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, the Greens are visiting ALBA Berlin on Friday. The American shooting guard is expected to play. However, he would be ready to play sooner, if necessary. “I could play tomorrow if we had a game. I am here now. So, I am ready to go,” he said looking forward to his debut.
From the NBA to Europe
A veteran of 212 games played in the NBA between the Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami Heat, Nunn hopes to make his way back to the league based in North America next season.
“It was not this summer. Things got a little complicated,” he replied to a question about playing in the NBA, “I am excited to be here. I am embracing this year. Hopefully, we do well. I am sure we will. Next year, I will probably return to the NBA.”
“I want to win. Hopefully win a championship here. That is one of my goals,” he shared ambitions for the 2023-24 season.
