Panathinaikos Athens forward Juancho Hernangomez will be out for the next two months after suffering a fracture in the little finger of his left hand during practice. The Spanish player will undergo surgery on Wednesday (8/11).
Hernangomez is the second player of the Panathinaikos forward lineup who will miss the rest of 2023 after Ioannis Papapetrou. Greens coach Ergin Ataman hadn’t ruled out the possibility of a new signing to cover the gap at the “3” position and it remains to be seen if the club will now move more aggressively on the market after Hernangomez’s injury.
In his debut EuroLeague year after seven seasons in the NBA, Hernangomez is averaging 4.5 points (on 8-26 shots) and 5.0 rebounds in 22:36 minutes over six games as Panathinaikos stands at a 2-4 record. He has 10.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in the Greek League where his team is undefeated with 5-0.
