Milos Teodosic scored a season-high 18 points on 4-5 triples as Crvena Zvezda routed a shorthanded Fenerbahce Beko 87 – 56 for its largest win in the EuroLeague regular season so far.
Zvezda was superior right from the start to go ahead 45 – 26 at halftime against a Fenerbahce team that lacked Dyshawn Pierre and Sertac Sanli while Marko Guduric and Nick Calathes traveled to Belgrade but were unable to play.
“Good victory,” Teodosic said. “We played good. This is the way we need to play in the future. We need to be focused on defense in every game. I don’t like to talk about myself. This is a team game and a team win. I’m really happy I’m part of this group of people with great persons and great players.”
Red Star established a lead beyond 20 points after the third period and turned the game into a complete rout.
Apart from Teodosic, Joel Bolomboy had 14 points, Nemanja Nedovic delivered 12 points, five assists plus four rebounds, and Yago dos Santos posted 12 points, four dimes plus four boards of his own.
“The night belongs to Red Star”
“Congratulations to the players,” Zvezda coach Giannis Sfairopoulos said. “This is the way I want us to play the game. The dedication we showed today is very important, continuing forward.”
Nigel Hayes-Davis was the only Fenerbahce player in double figures, scoring 12.
“Not much to say. The night belongs to Red Star,” Fenerbahce coach Dimitris Itoudis said. He tipped his hat off to Zvezda without using any excuses because of his team’s many injuries: “Unfortunately we weren’t up to the potential we have and what the situation required. Congratulations to Zvezda.”
