Isaiah Canaan scored a EuroLeague career-high 25 points as Olympiacos Piraeus beat Zalgiris Kaunas 89 – 72 at home to register its fourth straight EuroLeague win and improve to 6-4.
Zalgiris, on the other hand, dropped to 4-6.
Canaan also drained the 3-pointer that “locked” the win of Olympiacos, making it 84 – 66 with 2:44 to play to push back all comeback hopes by Zalgiris. The Reds got 20-point advantages multiple times during their dominant second half and their opponents tried to trim them down to single digits to no avail.
Shooting was generally the key for Olympiacos that began with 2-11 and finished with 15 – 29. Alec Peters had 4-5 and 22 points while Thomas Walkup contribute 4-7 triples for 14 points.
For Zalgiris, Keenan Evans had 21 points. His team trailed 43 – 31 at halftime after a balanced 19 – 19 first period and then was unable to matchup Olympiacos‘ firepower as a whole.
