Filip Petrusev is on the way out of the Sacramento Kings and heading to Turkish Airlines EuroLeague giant Olympiacos.
The Sacramento Kings plan to waive the Serbian forward/center, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The next stop will be the Reds, per multiple sources.
Olympiacos has been monitoring the NBA status of Petrusev over recent weeks, hoping to boost the roster. After recently signing Naz Mitrou-Long and shifting focus to an addition to the frontline, bringing in the Belgrade native, a veteran of 56 appearances in the EuroLeague between Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet and Anadolu Efes, surfaced as a suitable option.
Petrusev, 23, was drafted by the Sixers in 2021. Completing the jump to the NBA in 2023, he was limited to a three-minute showing with the 76ers and went on logging seven minutes spread between two games played upon moving to Sacramento via trade.
Before being selected with the 50th pick of the 2021 draft, Petrusev opted to leave Gonzaga after two NCAA seasons and instead ink a contract with Mega Soccerbet. His first professional campaign was highlighted by leading the ABA League in points and earning the season MVP nod, and debuting at the senior international level with Serbia.
In a limited role with Efes, he was part of the second consecutive championship run of the Istanbul outfit in the EuroLeague in 2021-22. Returning to Belgrade, he switched to an upgraded role as a member of Zvezda in 2022-23, before pursuing his options in the NBA.
