Just after midnight Greek time, Olympiacos officially announced the signing of Filip Petrusev. Per the press release, the Serbian big man has a deal for the next three years, which according to Eurohoops sources includes opt-out clauses for both sides.
Petrusev is expected to arrive on Tuesday morning local time in Athens and join his new team after the medical exams.
etrusev, 23, was drafted by the Sixers in 2021. Completing the jump to the NBA in 2023, he was limited to a three-minute showing with the 76ers and went on logging seven minutes spread between two games played upon moving to Sacramento via trade.
Before being selected with the 50th pick of the 2021 draft, Petrusev opted to leave Gonzaga after two NCAA seasons and instead ink a contract with Mega Soccerbet. His first professional campaign was highlighted by leading the ABA League in points earning the season MVP nod, and debuting at the senior international level with Serbia.
In a limited role with Efes, he was part of the second consecutive championship run of the Istanbul outfit in the EuroLeague in 2021-22. Returning to Belgrade, he switched to an upgraded role as a member of Zvezda in 2022-23, before pursuing his options in the NBA.
He is eligible to play even in this week’s EuroLeague game against Monaco.
