In a recent social media post discussing Olympiacos‘ acquisition of Filip Petrusev, Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos emphasized that, working alongside Ergin Ataman, they have reached an agreement for two signings for the upcoming year.
Giannakopoulos added that these players are well-known in Piraeus. He expressed optimism that Panathinaikos will potentially form a stronger team than the one they had in 2009 when they clinched the Greek League, Cup, and EuroLeague titles, boasting players like Vassilis Spanoulis, Dimitris Diamantidis, Nikola Pekovic, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Antonis Fotsis, and Mike Batiste.
“The announcement for Petrusev was very successful. I tip my hat to you. Hopefully, you have changed your mood. But since we’re in the mood for jokes and banter today, I’ll say the following:
Together with our coach, Mr. Ataman, we have taken steps from now for two roster changes next year. Two players, each with a value of €3 million. I won’t say who they are; you know them well there in Piraeus. I believe that our roster next year will be better than the one in 2009. That’s it. Enjoy your coffee,” Giannakopoulos said.
