Following the increasing injuries in the team, Anadolu Efes strengthened its roster with the addition of Mike Daum in recent days. The Turkish champions are now preparing for another reinforcement to its frontcourt rotation.
As Eurohoops sources previously reported, Anadolu Efes reached an agreement with Daniel Oturu from Yukatel Merkezefendi until the end of the season. The American center is expected to join the team at the beginning of next week. Merkezefendi head coach Zafer Aktas confirmed the transfer.
“Daniel Oturu is with us for the last time today. He will join the Anadolu Efes squad starting next week. This is a proud moment for me and my team. This is the fourth or fifth player we have brought to the EuroLeague level in two and a half years. On the other hand, we need to ensure the continuity of the organization. We can elevate the current players to a higher level and send them somewhere, but it hurts us for the continuity of the organization,” Aktas said before the match against Darussafaka, which will be the last game for Oturu with Merkezefendi.
Selected 33rd overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, the 24-year-old player spent two seasons in the NBA and G-League, wearing the jerseys of the Los Angeles Clippers and the Chicago Bulls.
Making his debut in European basketball this summer, Oturu made a significant impact from preseason games onwards. Although the team has not achieved the expected stability, the American center has been one of the most effective players in the Basketball Super League, averaging 20.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game.
