Another player on the injury list for Anadolu Efes. Will Clyburn emerges as the latest entry.
Clyburn, 33, picked up an injury in his left leg during the game versus Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet. The setback in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 11 contest on Friday will force him to the sidelines for at least two weeks.
Elijah Bryant (plantar fascia), Tibor Pleiss, Derek Willis (right hand surgery), and Ante Zizic (calf) were already out for the team coached by Erdem Can. In addition, Dogus Ozdemiroglu (knee) is expected to miss the entire 2023-24 season.
Seeking injury relief, the team located in Istanbul recently completed the transfer of power forward Mike Daum and is expected to soon announce the signing of center Daniel Oturu. However, reinforcing the backcourt as well seems probable.
Clyburn started his eighth campaign in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague packing 11.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per contest over 11 appearances, including seven starts. In the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season, he averaged 12.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over five games played. The early-season reward was helping Efes to a 5-6 start in Europe’s premier club continental competition and an 8-1 tally in the domestic league.
The Detroit native joined Efes in 2022, after spending five years at CSKA and capturing the EuroLeague title as the Final Four MVP in 2019. Earlier stops were with Darusafaka Dogus, Hapoel Holon, and ratiopharm Ulm.
