Bad news for EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, especially heading to the next double-game week of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
Nikola Mirotic will undergo medical tests to determine the severity of a flare-up in his left Achilles tendon, the team announced on Saturday.
Per the press release: “Nikola Mirotic has experienced a flare-up of left Achilles tendinopathy. The player will undergo further specialist visits in the next few days.”
Mirotic, 32, has been dealing with discomfort in his Achilles over recent weeks but did not miss any games in the 2023-24 installment of EuroLeague’s Regular Season. He has instead started in all eleven games so far, averaging 17.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks per contest for the team coached by Ettore Messina. At the domestic level, he put up 16.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game over six appearances.
Carrying a 4-7 W-L tally in Europe’s premier club competition, the Milan outfit will visit FC Bayern Munich on Tuesday and Partizan Mozzart Bet on Thursday, after a domestic affair at Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari on Sunday. The experienced power forward is questionable to play in the next games.
Recovering from surgery in his right elbow, Billy Baron is projected to sit out a few more weeks. The former NBA player and MVP of the 2021-22 season in EuroLeague potentially joining him on the injury list would be a huge setback for the reigning champions in Italy’s LBA UnipolSai.
