Returning to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Austin Hollins joined Zalgiris.

Hollins, 32, landed in Kaunas on a three-week trial with a team option to extend his stay for the remainder of the 2023-24 season, as announced Monday morning.

Per the press release: “Injury-riddled Zalgiris Kaunas has made another addition. The Lithuanian champions, who recently signed Edmond Sumner, have brought in American guard Austin Hollins.

Hollins will initially have a three-week trial period with Zalgiris, after which the Lithuanian champions will decide whether he will stay with the team until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old American is well known to EuroLeague fans, having spent four years in the strongest basketball tournament in Europe, wearing the jerseys of Zenit St Petersburg, Crvena Zvezda Belgrade and Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Israel was the last stop of Hollins’ career last season. However, an injury derailed his season and he became a free agent in the summer.

In his best season in the EuroLeague, the 193 cm tall guard averaged 10.4 points per game.

Before moving to the EuroLeague, Hollins also played for Denain Voltaire Basket (France), Kauhajoen Karhu (Finland), Giesen 46ers (Germany) and Rasta Vechta (Germany).”

Arnas Butkevicius (foot), Lukas Lekavicius (abdomen) are expected to miss many more games with Brady Manek (right knee) on the injury list as well but projected to to return to action sooner.

At 5-8 in the EuroLeague, the team coached by Kazys Maksvytis is two games away from the Playoff and Play-In portions of the standings.
