After negotiating with Andrea Trinchieri, Fenerbahce found an agreement with Sarunas Jasikevicius to replace Dimitris Itoudis on the yellow-and-blue bench, as first reported by Basketfaul and One, and as Eurohoops sources can confirm.
The Lithuanian head coach will reportedly be in Istanbul tomorrow and be in charge of the EuroLeague encounter against AS Monaco, scheduled on Friday at home.
Jasikevicius initially denied the first offer made to him by Fenerbahce and the club initiated the talks with Trinchieri. However, club president Ali Koc himself took over the task of luring the Lithuanian coach, he contacted him and ultimately the two sides have a deal for 2,5 year contract.
Playing for Fenerbahce in 2011 before returning to Panathinaikos, the former Zalgiris Kaunas and FC Barcelona’s head coach will now return to Turkey, this time as a coach.
After initially saying no to Fenerbahce offer, Sarunas Jasikevicius agreed to a deal until 2026 with Ali Koc handling the case. More on @Eurohoopsnet and @EurohoopsTR pic.twitter.com/in54MnQi55
