Moving his talents to Europe and joining Partizan Mozzart Bet for the 2023-24 season, P.J. Dozier Jr. has been a hit for the team based in Belgrade. Filling the gap left by the departure of Dante Exum would be demanding if that was the actual case for the former South Carolina standout.
“I think that was a big thing when I decided to come here,” Dozier told Meridian sport on projections about him directly replacing Exum, “Of course, he returned to the NBA and I came from the NBA. Outside of that, he is him and I am me.”
Exum, 28, signed with the Dallas Mavericks following one year with the Serbian club. On the opposite route, Dozier arrived with the experience of 136 games played in the NBA. Averaging 10.1 points behind 52% from the field, 3.6 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per contest paints the picture on his first 14 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
“I think we have a very different style of play and bring different things to this club,” he further rejected similarities with Exum after registering 16 points in the away win versus Zalgiris on Thursday.
“He played great here and I am glad he resumed his NBA career,” concluded Dozier, “I am focused on what I have here and will do everything I can to help the club.”
Seven wins in a row between the EuroLeague and AdmiralBet ABA League improved Partizan’s respective tallies to 8-6 and 8-3.
