Partizan Belgrade recently revealed its largest budget in the black-and-white team’s history at 20 million euros, Crvena Zvezda followed, with the president of the club Nebojsa Covic appearing on “Jutro” on TV Prva, as reported by Telegraf. It was the same television program in which Partizan Belgrade’s president Ostoja Mijailovic appeared.
Crvena Zvezda’s president was extremely precise. “The budget of Crvena Zvezda is 15.777.062 euros. Let’s say, about 15 million and 800. The expenses for the players, according to the financial fair play of the EuroLeague, cannot exceed 65.0% of the budget”, he first commented.
Then, he underlined the team’s budget for players’ expenses. “This means that our expenses for the players are somewhere around 10 million and 200, more precisely 10.192.738 euros. That’s the budget for the 23/24 season. Of course, the budget is a living matter in case there are some arrivals or departures. It will definitely change”, Neboisa Covic added, hinting at some arrivals eventually.
Finally, the Serbian club’s president took some time to criticize Partizan Belgrade. “Zvezda respects that and we hope others will. We were under measures last year, where our neighbors were tirelessly engaged to prevent [Facundo] Campazzo from playing. We submitted the report for the last season to the Euroleague at the beginning of November, and the deadline is December 20”, he stated.
After parting ways with Dusko Ivanovic, Crvena Zvezda gave the head coaching position to Ioannis Sfairopoulos and the club is now standing at a 5-9 record, tying with Milano and Zalgiris Kaunas for the 14th position in the EuroLeague Regular Season. They recently beat ALBA Berlin 85-71.
