Crvena Zvezda coach Giannis Sfairopoulos confirmed that guard Shabazz Napier will be leaving the team and is in talks to join another club. According to Meridian, Napier will be returning to Olimpia Milano.
“Shabazz is in negotiation to change teams,” Sfairopoulos said during the post-game presser regarding Napier’s absence from the match. “He came this morning to tell me that he doesn’t want to play to not risk getting injured.”
Asked about the possibility that these negotiations fell off and what would happen with Napier since he didn’t want to gear up for such an important game, Sfairopoulos responded that the player wouldn’t be returning to Zvezda.
“He put himself out of the team,” the Greek coach mentioned.
Napier replied via Instagram with the message: “Speak the truth in front of the camera”.
Earlier this season, Milano coach Ettore Messina was reported to say that Napier is sending messages to his former teammates that he wants to come back to the Italian team. The former NBA guard responded that he was “happy’ with Zvezda and told Messina to “stop lying” on an Instagram post.
