What was reported yesterday, is official today with Crvena Zvezda coach Giannis Sfairopoulos announcing the move of Shabazz Napier to Milan.
“He is no longer with us, as he is moving to Armani Milano“, Sfairopoulos said in the press conference before the upcoming game against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Per Eurohoops sources, Napier has already travelled to Milan.
Coach Sfairopoulos didn’t want to comment what Napier wrote on Instagram for him. “I don’t use social media except twitter when I want to make a statement”, he added.
Without mentioning Sfairopoulos, Napier wrote “stop lying before the camera”, presumably reffering to his former coach quotes about Napier asking not to play against Real Madrid because the negotiation of his transfer were still ongoing.
Napier returns to the team he finished the season last year and he is expected to be again the starting point guard of the Italian club.
Earlier this season, Milano coach Ettore Messina was reported to say that Napier is sending messages to his former teammates that he wants to come back to the Italian team. The former NBA guard responded that he was “happy’ with Zvezda and told Messina to “stop lying” on an Instagram post.
However, Milan is his new home.
As for Zvezda, as coach Sfairopoulos also said, Ognen Kuzmic is also expected to part ways with the club.
