Supporters of Partizan Mozzart Bet are not allowed to follow their favorite team in the next away game.
Euroleague Basketball announced the disciplinary sanction on Thursday. Apart from banning the fans from the next away game, a fine of 30,000 euros was issued due to the incidents involving 400 fans in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 15 game against Valencia in La Fonteta.
Per the press release: “PARTIZAN MOZZART BET BELGRADE has been sanctioned with a fine of €30,000 and a ban on its fans to attend their next away game, following the incidents reported on occasion of its away game against Valencia Basket under Article 29.1.e) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.”
Many fans traveling to Valencia moved to seats allocated to local fans and ultimately forced a police intervention.
After playing host to Virtus Segafredo Bologna today (18:30 CET) and LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in Round 18 of the EuroLeague Regular Season, Partizan will face Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet at the bottom end of the two-game week covering the first week of 2024. The meeting with the Belgrade rival is the next away game.
The team coached by Zeljko Obradovic extended the winning streak between the EuroLeague and AdmiralBet ABA League to nine games by defeating the Taronges on the road but two days later fell to Real Madrid in WiZink Center and dropped to 9-7 at the continental level. The stunning loss to Zadar lowered the regional W-L tally to 9-4 on Sunday.
