Ioannis Papapetrou returned to the court and made his season debut in Panathinaikos AKTOR’s win over Lavrio in the domestic championship. However, on the eve of the match, Aleksander Balcerowski underwent surgery.
The Polish center felt some discomfort in his abdomen, and the tests showed appendicitis. The Athens club announced that he underwent successful surgery at HYGEIA Hospital on Sunday night.
It’s not reported for how long Balcerowski will be absent, but it’s extremely doubtful that he’ll be able to help his teammates against Partizan (19/01) and Olympiacos (22/01) in the upcoming week.
The two-time winner of the EuroCup Rising Star award joined Panathinaikos last summer and has so far averaged 3.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 17 EuroLeague appearances, as well as 6.4 points and five boards in 12 games played in the Basket League.
