When Luca Vildoza came back from the NBA to sign with Crvena Zvezda, Baskonia announced the rights for the Argentinian playmaker belonged to them.
Now, with an official press release, the Basque team communicated the decision of a sentence coming from the Superior Court of Justice of the Basque Country, which condemns the current Panathinaikos player to pay one million euros to his former team.
Moreover, Baskonia announced this is not even the amount of the compensation agreed in the first place. “Even though the resolution was favorable for the interests of the Club, the compensation agreed in the contract with Mr. Vildoza amounted to 2 million euros”, the Basque team proclaims.
However, per Eurohoops sources both sides will appeal. Baskonia wants double since the initial clause in the player’s contract was asking for a compensation of two million euros as mentioned on the press release, and Luca Vildoza’s side considers the clause abusive on the other end. There will, therefore, be more updates on the story.
After playing for the red-and-white Serbian team, Luca Vildoza moved to Panathinaikos in the summer, where he’s averaging 6.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in the EuroLeague. Before trying the NBA experience, the Argentinian guard spent four seasons in Vitoria.
