Yesterday it was a special night for Partizan Belgrade in the EuroLeague. Welcoming back Andrea Trinchieri – received with a standing ovation by the black-and-white crowd -, celebrating the memory of Dejan Milojevic, and winning against Zalgiris Kaunas made it an unforgettable evening.
However, after the game, a group of masked people, dressed in black and bringing batons, rods, and axes, attacked Partizan fans who were coming back home, lining traffic through the Serbian capital.
The Serbian powerhouse strongly condemned these actions with an official statement on its website. “It’s necessary to determine who the attackers are and that people who peacefully come to the games and enjoy the sports spectacle must be protected”, the press release first said.
“We deal with basketball, and we have the highest average viewership at home in the Euroleague and the ABA League, but we also must do everything in our power to protect the people who come and go to Partizan games peacefully”, Partizan officially added.
The black-and-white team added the condemnation of these actions. “There is no place for violence at sports events, whether before, after, or during the games, and KK Partizan Mozzart Bet will fight in every way to eradicate violence and punish the perpetrators”, the Serbian club finally announced.
