After recent reports about Barcelona extending Jan Vesely’s contract, the Spanish champions made it official.
Although he had a contract for the 2024-25 season, both the player and the club had an option to part ways. As has become clear, neither party wanted that and even decided to extend the Czech’s contract for the 2025-26 season.
“We have decided to renew the contract. The decision has been very quick and easy. I am very happy to have made it because I feel very comfortable with this decision, and I am enjoying Barcelona a lot,” expresses Jan Vesely.
After eight years at Fenerbahce, the team with which he won the Euroleague under Zeljko Obradovic, Vesely decided to make the jump to Barcelona, and it did not take him long to become an important piece of the puzzle for both coach Sarunas Jasikevicius and Roger Grimau.
This season, his second as the Catalan team player, he is averaging 7.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists for a PIR of 9.8 in 16 ACB League games, while in the Euroleague, his numbers are even better: 12.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and a PIR of 16.6 in 25 games.
