Olimpia Milano can’t shake off injury troubles. After the national cups across Europe and a break from club basketball due to the FIBA February window, Ettore Messina will not have four players at his disposal for the upcoming resumption of the EuroLeague.
In addition to Billy Baron, who made only three appearances in the 2023/24 season, Shabazz Napier, Stefano Tonut, and Diego Flaccadori won’t be helping the team in Round 27 against LDLC ASVEL in Villeurbanne (01/03).
“The Olimpia Milano Basketball team announces that Stefano Tonut, who suffered a contusive trauma to his right hand during commitments with the Italian National team, will not be available for the game against Villeurbanne and will be reassessed before the league match against Varese.
Diego Flaccadori, following routine check-ups scheduled in advance, will have to observe a few days of inactivity but will be available again from next week. Shabazz Napier, due to an infection in his left foot, will not accompany the team on the trip to Villeurbanne and will be reassessed on a daily basis,” as Olimpia Milano announced.
After returning to the Mediolanum Forum from Crvena Zvezda, Napier recorded nine EuroLeague appearances with the Italian champions, averaging 10.9 points and 4.1 assists. Tonut played 23 matches this season, averaging 5.1 points, while Flaccadori averaged 5.7 points in 21 appearances.
