Recently surpassing Vassilis Spanoulis to become the All-Time Leading Scorer in EuroLeague history, Mike James has written a historic chapter of the competition, cementing his legacy as one of the best to play the game in Europe.
Taking part in a walkthrough interview that saw other notable names like Dimitris Itoudis, Ibon Navarro, and Sasa Obradovic participating to comment on Mike James’ career, Vladimir Micov spoke to Mozzart Sport about his former teammate.
Sharing the locker room in Milan during the 2018-19 season, where the American playmaker had 19.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and .4 assists per game, the Serbian forward talked about his off-the-court attitude back in the days.
“He’s in his world, like almost every American. They put up with him a lot. I respect that because he had the upper hand. He was playing great, but he was like a ticking time bomb. Sometimes even the smallest things affected him greatly and drove him crazy. He suddenly decided not to play and wanted a change”, he commented about Mike James.
However, the now-retired player also praised the former Panathinaikos and CSKA Moscow guard. “He’s a great player, very smart, a great scorer. When I look at his current state, I see that he has improved his mentality a lot. He’s playing a team game. Wonderful. He has achieved great success, I congratulate him”, Vladimir Micov added.
