After sitting out with a broken toe in his left foot, Erten Gazi underwent successful surgery. He has been projected by Anadolu Efes to be sidelined for 12 weeks. According to the timeline, a return before the end of the 2023-24 season is unlikely.
The team based in Istanbul updated the health status of the 26-year-old guard on Saturday.
Logging ten appearances in the ongoing Regular Season of the EuroLeague, Gazi tallied 0.9 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.4 assists, and 0.1 steals per game. Over four campaigns in Europe’s premier club continental competition, he made his way to 44 games played, including being crowned champion in 2021 and 2022.
At 12-16, the team coached by Croatian Tomislav Mijatovic is one game outside the Play-In zone. With six games left on the 34-game double-legged round-robin schedule, an uphill battle follows to salvage a postseason berth.
In the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season, Efes carries an 18-3 record and shares the lead with Fenerbahce Beko. Contributions by Gazi at the domestic level amount to 8.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per contest over 16 appearances in his fourth year in the top-tier division of Turkiye.
A youth product of Efes, he split four seasons in the NCAA between DePaul and Fordham before reuniting with his current club in 2021. Emerging at the senior international level following his return, he represented Turkiye in the Qualifiers of the 2023 FIBA World Cup and 2025 EuroBasket.
