Talking with Euroleague.net about Real Madrid, Luka Doncic recalled his stint with Los Blancos and went on to his former teammate Facundo Campazzo and the team coached by Chus Mateo possibly going all the way in the 2023-24 edition of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
“What I miss most about the club is just the teammates, the coaches, the guys that spend a lot of time with, even the medical staff, physiotherapists, all those great people,” noted the leading player of the Dallas Mavericks, “That’s what I miss the most about the club.”
Doncic, 25, left Madrid to join the Mavs in 2018, after being selected with the third overall pick of the draft. Argentine floor general Campazzo leaped to the NBA in 2020 before finally reuniting with the Spanish powerhouse in 2023.
“Well, Facu is very important. You know, he’s a great player, a lot of energy, great passer, great scorer,” commented the Slovenian sensation, “I think this was one of the biggest additions to Madrid. And they are going to need him.”
Leading the EuroLeague with a 22-6 W-L tally, the team based in Spain’s capital is looking to win back-to-back championships.
“For Madrid to win back-to-back titles, it’s going to be very tough. I think there are a lot of teams that are really good,” described Doncic, “But I’m confident. They have a great team, great coaching. So I’m confident in them.”
