Coming out of a comeback win with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv against his first Turkish Airlines EuroLeague team Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet, Lorenzo Brown compared the current squad of the Belgrade giant to his teammates back in the 2019-20 season with an interesting approach to joining forces with Kevin Punter.
“It is always a special feeling to return where I started my EuroLeague career, especially with a chance to win,” the 33-year-old point guard told Meridian sport after the win in Round 29 in Stark Arena on Thursday, “I will forever be grateful for the opportunity I got here.”
Back in 2019, heading to the bottom end of the 2019-20 campaign, Crvena Zvezda mts picked up Punter, placing him alongside Brown at the perimeter. Four years forward, Punter is on the opposite side of the Belgrade derby as a leading member of Partizan Mozzart Bet and Brown runs point for the team based in Tel Aviv.
“I recall Kevin Punter signing later in the season. We were at different places in our careers. At our current levels, it would certainly be very different for the team. As for our team compared to the current team, this Zvezda is better than ours,” Brown replied to a question about the 2019-20 and 2023-24 editions of Zvezda.
“I am not thinking about the future right now,” he underlined regarding the next season, “I am focused on the ongoing season. About the next steps, when the time comes.”
