AS Monaco has made a three-year offer for more than 9 million to superstar guard Mike James to keep him on the team until 2027, according to Sotiris Vetakis.

Per the report, “it’s only a matter of details” for the deal to be finalized.

James, the recently crowned all-time scoring king in EuroLeague, has a contract until the end of 2023-24 with Monaco and is currently projected to enter the offseason as a free agent. The contract extension that the American player signed in 2022 earns him 2 million per year, so he will get quite a raise if he agrees to the new deal.

This may also be the last contract James signs in his career since he will be 37 years old in August 2027.

James has been playing for Monaco since 2021. In his first year with the French club and maiden season for the team in EuroLeague, they made the competition’s playoffs. In 2023, Monaco advanced to the Final Four in Kaunas, finishing in the third place.

This season, James is leading the EuroLeague in scoring with 19.3 points while also averaging 5.1 assists and 4.3 rebounds as Monaco is third in the standings. He’s considered the favorite to win MVP.
