An injury setback for Valencia and 32-year-old Brandon Davies.
The former NCAA standout with Brigham Young University was sidelined with a left calf injury, the team announced on Sunday.
Per the press release: “Valencia Basket center Brandon Davies reported some discomfort in his left leg after last Thursday’s game at the Fenerbahçe Beko Istanbul court.
The imaging tests that the player has undergone have confirmed that suffers a muscle injury in the calf of his left leg.
Davies will be absent from the Taronga team’s next games. His evolution will mark his availability to return to work with the group.”
Facing Fener in Round 29 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, Davies piled up multiple team-highs through 18 points, five rebounds, and one block. An onslaught by the hosts in Ulker Sports Arena forced Valencia to 13-16. The team coached by Alex Mumbru is tied with Partizan Mozzart Bet and FC Bayern Munich in tenth place of the standings, at the bottom end of the Play-In zone.
With the race to the Playoffs heating up, two out of the remaining five outings are set for next week. The American-born naturalized Ugandan center is doubtful to play in the home game versus FC Bayern Munich on Wednesday and against AS Monaco in Salle Gaston Medecin on Friday, besides missing a visit to Girona in Round 25 of Spain’s Liga Endesa later Sunday.
Senegalese center Boubacar Toure (back) is also on the injury list.
