After an early exit in Round 29 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, Yago Dos Santos underwent nasal surgery on Tuesday afternoon in Belgrade. He suffered a nose injury and a concussion.
A successful operation, as announced by Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet. Updating the health status of the 25-year-old Brazilian combo guard, the Serbian giant projected a return to action soon.
Besides Dos Santos, head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos also misses Branko Lazic (illness), Nikola Topic (knee), and Trey Thompkins (knee) heading to a home game against Panathinaikos Aktor in Round 30 of EuroLeague’s Regular Season. However, Milos Teodosic (wrist) might return to action, currently labeled as questionable to play tomorrow in Stark Arena. Remaining home, his side entertains Virtus Segafredo Bologna on Friday.
In his first EuroLeague campaign, the Sao Paulo native tallied 9.2 points, 4.1 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per contest over 26 games, starting on 16 occasions. At 10-19 and all but knocked out from playoff contention, the team guided by Sfairopoulos sits three games outside the Play-In zone with five outings remaining, including the last double-game action of the 2023-24 Regular Season this week.
Debuting also in the AdmiralBet ABA League, Dos Santos averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 assists per game over 21 appearances in the regional league. Down to three fixtures left in the 26-game double-legged round-robin schedule, Zvezda carries a league-high tally of 20-3, two games ahead of Buducnost VOLI and three games ahead of Partizan Mozzart Bet.
