Connecting with the fans in Stark Arena, Zeljko Obradovic with a gesture hinted at inking a new contract with Partizan Mozzart Bet. That may not be the case yet but is indeed the plan for the 64-year-old tactician.
“When the fans said they wanted a contract, I took the board and signed. Do I need to explain anything else?” he said after guiding his side to a win versus Baskonia in Round 30 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season.
Over recent weeks, Obradovic has been vocal about potentially keeping his role as the head coach of the team based in Belgrade and confirmed his intentions on Tuesday.
“I have worked in many big clubs, but this loyalty is incredible,” he described the support of the Partizan fans, “Thank you to the fans from the bottom of my heart. One should be a champion even in cheering.”
“As far as I’m concerned, I will do everything to stay in Partizan,” added Obradovic, “Not everything is ideal here, but El Dorado doesn’t exist. I hope that together we will find the way, that we will continue the story we are building, that we will continue to defend the reputation of the club, the city, and the country.”
Improving to 14-16, his side enjoys the view from inside the Play-In zone at the top of the last double-game week of the 2023-24 EuroLeague Regular Season. Welcoming league-leading and defending champion Real Madrid is the next challenge on Thursday.
