Ahead of the second-last appointment of the 2023-24 EuroLeague Regular Season, Ergin Ataman talked about the final duties for Panathinaikos, as the close clash against Bayern Munich is set to be important to clinch the 2nd position in the standings, only behind Real Madrid.
Speaking from Athens International Airport, the Turkish head coach commented on the potential away record in the competition for Panathinaikos, reaching nine wins away from OAKA. “The away record honestly doesn’t interest me at the moment. It means nothing to me”, he first said.
“Personally, I see it as more important to finish the regular season in this position, 2nd. We have a very important game ahead of us, which we must win. The other teams, our opponents in the first four places, will have equally difficult matches”, the former Anadolu Efes coach added.
Then, he concluded. “As for the record, for me, the only record in the history of European basketball is playing in the Final Four and winning the title”, he finally addressed, talking from winning expertise as his time in Istanbul proved in 2021 and 2022.
In the EuroLeague Round 33, the green-and-white powerhouse will go on the road to Munich to face Pablo Laso’s Bayern on April 5 at 20:30 CET; on the latest game of the season, they will face the other German team, last in the standings, ALBA Berlin on April 11 at 20:15 CET.
