Olympiacos Piraeus defeated Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet in an exciting Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Round 33 clash, securing a place in the Playoffs.
During the match, Olympiacos center Moustapha Fall had the opportunity to play against his former teammate Joel Bolomboy, who is having the best season of his European career with the Belgrade team.
“Joel is having a very good season. I’m happy for him. Now, he has much more space to play, and it’s clear that he enjoys it. I just wish him more team success. But yes, certainly, I’m really happy and proud of him. I hope he continues like this,” Fall said about Bolomboy to Meridian Sport.
Olympiacos secured the win without the help of Serbian big men, former Partizan player Nikola Milutinov, and former Crvena Zvezda center Filip Petrusev, as Fall and Moses Wright took care of business in the Belgrade Arena.
“Nikola is a great player, very talented, very skilled. He hasn’t been lucky this season with injuries, so he has often been out of the team. But everyone knows what he’s capable of, and I’m very happy that he’s coming back. Surely, we missed him, but I think we’ve been doing great and have brought many victories even without him. Moses Wright came, and he helped us a lot in that regard. It will be easier with him. But we just need to play our game even when Nikola isn’t with us,” Fall said about Milutinov.
After a successful season with Crvena Zvezda, Petrusev went to the NBA, but after a short stint with the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings, he returned to Europe and signed a deal with the Piraeus team.
“He has helped us a lot since he arrived. I think we now have more size and athleticism. Filip has a good feel for the game. Of course, he’s still young, so he’s still improving. He has adapted to the new system, and he’s getting better every day. Now, he needs to recover from the injury, but he is really a very good basketball player,” Moustapha Fall concluded.
