Paulius Jankunas officially became Zalgiris’ President, and during the ZalgirisOnAir podcast, he touched on various topics, including the future of Keenan Evans.
According to Eurohoops sources, the US guard has emerged as Zalgiris’s star player, attracting interest from numerous teams, including Olympiacos and Fenerbahce.
“I don’t know if it is realistic to keep him. The club is certainly making every effort to retain him, but we are well aware of Keenan Evans’ caliber. He has reached a level where major teams are fighting for him. We are in contact with both Keenan himself and his agent. We are bending backward to keep him, but I don’t know what his decision will be,” Jankunas said.
There were reports of Evans leaving Zalgiris even mid-season, but he stayed with the team and continued to deliver great performances under the new head coach, Andrea Trinchieri.
Evans joined Zalgiris in 2022, following a season with Maccabi Tel Aviv. During the 2023/24 season, he averaged 17.3 points and 3.9 assists in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
