Fenerbahce Beko defeated Monaco in Game 3 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs, taking a 2-1 lead in the series.
Marko Guduric was among the best with 11 points and six assists, and after the game, he shared his impressions talking to Eurohoops.
“Of course, the game was close because we are playing in the playoffs. Every match is close and intense. In the second match in Monaco, we were ahead by nine points in the last quarter, but they came back and won. Matches like this are normal in the playoffs,” Guduric said.
He then continued to explain what helped his side prevail.
“I’m happy we won. I think we made it difficult for our opponent. We got into a physical fight. They did this in the first two matches. This much. We are happy to win.”
Ukler Sports Arena was packed, and the Serbian guard had special support from the stands.
“Of course, fan support is very important; everyone knows it. They give us this extra energy. It was really beautiful. Great choreography. I hope they do the same on Friday. My family was also in the stands; I am very happy. This is also very important to me. They came from Serbia. It was beautiful.”
Nick Calathes was the man of the match with 13 points, five assists, and four rebounds, and Guduric knows what the Greek point guard needs to keep doing so that Fenerbahce advances to the Final Four.
“We need Nick to be aggressive. He will find the free player if they close the penetration lane. Like all of us, he needs to penetrate. We need to be aggressive, continue penetrating, and pressure their defense. This way, we can find solutions.”
Game 4 will also be played in Istanbul, so Fenerbahce players will do everything they can to punch a ticket for Berlin.
“We will come out with the same mentality. First, we must rest well and sleep well. Then, we will try to start over. We have to forget about this match tomorrow and prepare because our opponent will make changes according to the situation. They will come out on Friday and try to be more aggressive and try to return to Monaco with a 2-2 score. We will do our best to prevent this from happening,” Guduric concluded.
