Contracted through the 2025-26 season, Markus Howard and Baskonia are adding two more years to a productive collaboration.

Howard, 25, committed for two more years, signing a contract extension, according to Diario de Noticias de Alava.

It was an eventful stretch for the Marquette product from the Alphonso Ford EuroLeague Top Scorer Trophy and the senior national team of Puerto Rico to a contract extension with Baskonia. At the top of the 2023-24 campaign, he extended his contract until the end of the 2025-26 season. The latest update puts two more years on his contract with the team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

His second campaign in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague translated to a league-high 19.5 points per game. Connecting 43% from the field, including 40% from beyond the arc, his efforts guided Baskonia to the Playoffs via the Play-In Showdown. His side then fell into the wrong end of a three-game sweep opposite Real Madrid.

Averaging 19.4 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per contest in Spain’s Liga Endesa was not enough for a berth in the Playoffs. The team coached by Dusko Ivanovic losing to Real Madrid in Round 34 of the ACB Regular Season concluded the 2023-24 campaign on Sunday.

A former player of the Denver Nuggets with the experience of 77 games played in the NBA between the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, he moved his talents to Baskonia in 2022. He has since logged 72 appearances in the EuroLeague and 62 in the ACB.
