Filip Petrusev avoids a serious injury, heading to the Final Four

The results of an MRI came back clean, confirming Filip Petrusev is available for Olympiacos in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four.

Petrusev, 24, injured his right ankle on Sunday. Following an early exit from the road game against Kolossos H Hotels in Rhodes, he underwent an MRI. He is likely to sit out Game 1 of a best-of-three series versus AEK Betsson in the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Wednesday but is expected to be cleared before the Reds make the trip to Berlin for the season-ending tournament of Europe’s premier club continental competition.

Following a home challenge opposite AEK to tip off a quarterfinal series of Greece’s Stoiximan Basket League Playoffs, the team coached by Giorgos Bartzokas faces the Queen behind closed doors in the Ano Liosia Olympic Hall on Saturday. Regarding the Final Four, the Semifinals matchup against Real Madrid is scheduled for May 24 in Uber Arena.

The Serbian big went from starting the 2023-24 campaign in the NBA, making three appearances between the Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76ers, to joining Olympiacos in November. Resurfacing in the EuroLeague, he tallied 6.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest over 20 features, including one start. Making his way to 11 contests of the Regular Season at the domestic level, Petrusev averaged 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
