Australian combo guard Will McDowell-White officially emerged as an incoming player for ALBA Berlin.
He inked a two-year contract to join the Albatrosse at the top of the 2024-25 season, the team announced on Wednesday.
McDowell-White, 26, played in Germany for two years, from 2017 to 2019. His experience with Brose Bamberg included two appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, three games played in the Basketball Champions League, and three features in Germany’s easyCredit BBL. More action was available in Germany’s second-tier division with the Baunach Young Pikes.
“Ever since I played for Bamberg as a teenager, it has always been a small dream of mine to one day play for ALBA,” he mentioned, “I am looking forward to being part of a club contending for the German league championship year after year. ALBA is also known for helping players reach their full potential. I have many former teammates with ALBA experience, Peyton Siva, Yanni Wetzell, and Louis Olinde. All three said only good things about the professionalism and culture of the club, the ALBA fans, and the city of Berlin. I can’t wait to get to Berlin!”
From connecting with Olinde at Bamberg, he played alongside former ALBA floor general Siva and current ALBA forward Wetzell in the 2021-22 season, during a four-year stint with the New Zealand Breakers. In his most recent campaign in Oceania’s NBL, he tallied 9.2 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per contest over 24 games played.
