BERLIN – Juancho Hernangomez has won the gold Eurobasket medal with the Spanish national team and this weekend he has the chance to win in the same arena the EuroLeague as a player of Panathinaikos.
So when asked about his return from the NBA, he didn’t hold back: “I’m looking forward to a new experience in my life and in my career. Let’s live it, enjoy it, and go for it. For these games and moments, I returned to Europe. It’s incredible basketball and tomorrow we’ll see it. I am looking forward to doing well and helping the team win.”
His return is combined with the return of Panathinaikos to the Final Four after 12 seasons.
“It is a team that has returned with great enthusiasm, the fans are very excited”, said Juancho, “A historic team that should always win but has not been there for many years, we now have the opportunity to win everything.”
The Spanish forward also spoke about their upcoming opponent, Fenerbahce: “This is a spectacular team, very tough, very well trained and with good players, who are going to make it very difficult, but in one match anything can happen”.
As Juancho explained, playing for a Greek powerhouse feels different: “That’s also the beautiful thing about this, fans that love basketball, that give everything, that really suffer for the team. The thing about the Greeks is spectacular, if you don’t live there you don’t understand it.”
