BERLIN – If there is a man who faces the Final Four in Berlin with a sense of urgency, it is Mario Hezonja.
The Croatian forward is finishing his contract and is in the best moment of his career, so winning the EuroLeague title is the best way to complete the season.
However, he respects Olympiacos and coach Giorgos Bartzokas. As he said: “Olympiacos is coached very well by the best coach in Europe. They have a team that is perfect for their system, which works because they have been in the Final Four for many years. Playing again against them, it’s the biggest thing in Europe. This is the stretch in which you have to be at your best mentally and physically to win this type of match. “They are a team that is difficult to play against, but we have to focus on our game.”
Hezonja is expecting a Final Four to remember, thanks also to the big number of traveling fans of Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, and Fenerbahce: “This is what the Final Four should be. The last one I have been to was in Barcelona at 2011 and I couldn’t believe it. I always wanted to be here when I was a child in Barcelona and Croatia. It looks like this Final Four is going to surpass it and be the best in history. In the Euroleague, the fans are everything to us, the more people there are in the stands, the better for the product, the Euroleague, and the players”.
And of course, he has a message for the fans of his team, Real Madrid: “ I always to win every game and trophy, this is what Real Madrid wants and deserves. Thanks for your support and I hope we can get another title.”
