Another season with Baskonia is coming up for Sander Raieste.
Raieste, 25, penned a one-year contract extension, the team announced on Friday.
A veteran of 69 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 92 games played in Spain’s Liga Endesa, all with the team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Estonian small forward will add to respective tallies over the 2024-25 season. Across all competitions, he made his way to 163 games since becoming a regular with the senior team.
At 17, he was landed by Baskonia in 2016. Raieste went from the reserve team, Baskonia B, to a loan assignment with Kalev/Cramo, before inking a four-year contract extension and being promoted to the senior team in 2020.
In 2023-24, he featured in 30 games of the EuroLeague, including eight starts. Over 6:38 per contest, he put up 0.9 points and 0.6 rebounds per game. His side ranked eighth in the Regular Season and advanced to the Playoffs through the Play-In Showdown. A three-game sweep at the hands of Real Madrid ended the continental campaign in April.
A couple of weeks later, another loss to Madrid marked the early conclusion of the domestic expedition. Finishing with an 18-16 record fell shy of a berth in the 2024 ACB Playoffs. Raieste averaged 2.3 points and 0.9 rebounds per game.
Building toward the 2024-25 editions of the EuroLeague and Liga Endesa, long-term contract extensions for Markus Howard and Tadas Sedekerskis emerged as earlier official moves for Baskonia.
