Real Madrid is expected to sign former NBA big man Serge Ibaka. According to Encestando, Ibaka and Real Madrid have agreed to terms for the player’s return to the Spanish powerhouse after 2011 and the NBA lockout.
Last summer Ibaka returned to Europe and joined Bayern Munich following a 14-year run in the NBA with such teams as the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Toronto Raptors, the Los Angeles Clippers and, lasty, the Milwaukee Bucks. The 34-year-old Spanish-Congolese big man was one of the key players during the Raptors‘ 2019 championship run while being named to the All-Defensive Team from 2012 to 2014.
Ibaka also led the NBA in blocks in 2012 and 2013.
In 2023-24, Ibaka led Bayern Munich in points, rebounds and blocks in the EuroLeague with 12.6, 6.8 and 1.2 respectively.
Ibaka, who’s currently competing in the German League Finals with Bayern, will be replacing center Vincent Poirier on the Real Madrid roster. The latter has been reported to be on his way to Turkish side Anadolu Efes.
