Serbian powerhouses Crvena Zvezda and Partizan Belgrade both received invitations by EuroLeague Basketball to participate in the competition in the 2024-25 season, Meridian Sports reports.
Zvezda already had a priority for a EuroLeague spot due to their status as the 2024 ABA League champions. Partizan was more or less expected to also be invited to return to the EuroLeague, as the organization benefits for the presence of these two clubs in multiple ways.
Both Zvezda and Partizan have been investing a lot this last couple of years, operating on ambitious budgets. Their home games attract huge fan attendance, often with sold-out crowds that create an exceptional atmospehre.
As Meridian says, Zvezda and Partizan will have to pay 1 million euros each for their wild card. This is the general participation fee for every club that participates in EuroLeageu with a B license.
Neither Zvezda nor Partizan have a secured place in the EuroLeague. Several sports figures like have spoken in favor of the two clubs gaining long-term licences that will provide them with the certainty of participation in the European top-tier competition.
