Getting an invitation to play in next year’s EuroLeague alongside city rivals Partizan Belgrade, Crvena Zvezda is already shaping the roster to be competitive on several sides in 2024-25.
After officially bringing in the 25-year-old Serbian center Uros Plavsic, the red-and-white club continues to make moves around its frontline players.
Both Mike Tobey and Freddie Gillespie, as officially announced by the Serbian powerhouse, won’t play under coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos next season, parting ways with the club.
Joining the team in the summer of 2023 from Barcelona, Luka Doncic’s partner in the Slovenian national team struggled to make an impact in Belgrade this season, averaging only 3.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in the EuroLeague, spending 10:56 minutes per game on the court.
The former Bayern Munich player, who switched sides midway through the season, had a bigger impact on Crvena Zvezda’s rotations at first, scoring 14 points in the derby against Partizan Belgrade in Round 19. However, he eventually put up just 2.5 points and 1.8 rebounds over 8:08 minutes per game.
