13 years after his first overseas contract with Casale, Matt Janning has officially called it a career, announcing his retirement before turning 35 years old at the end of June.

The Northeastern Huskies product played all over the world, starting with the Phoenix Suns, the Maine Red Claws, and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the United States.

Then, he embraced the overseas journey, playing in Italy for Casale and Siena, in Croatia for Cibona Zagreb, in Turkey for Anadolu Efes, in Israel for Hapoel Jerusalem, in Russia for Lokomotiv Kuba, in Spain for Baskonia and BAXI Manresa, and finally in Japan for the Kawasaki Brave Thunders.

“Incredible journey, it’s been a long run”, he first stated in a video shared on his social media accounts. “Played 13 years as a pro, a lot of great clubs, great people within those clubs. Amazing coaches, I played for some incredible basketball minds, some of the best minds in the game”, he added.

Throughout his long and variegated career, he won an Italian championship and an Italian Cup with Mens Sana Siena in 2013 – both titles were revoked -, the 2019-20 ACB with Baskonia, and the 2014-15 Turkish Cup with Anadolu Efes.
