Lassi Tuovi bids farewell to Virtus Bologna, where he was part of Luca Banchi’s coaching staff.
Next stop for the Finnish coach: Japan. The head coach of the Finnish national team signed a two-year deal to become the head coach of Yokohama B-Corsairs.
“After the first discussions, we quickly found common ground about what kind of coaching the B-Corsairs organization wants for its team, and what are the things and values that are important to me and that I want to bring to the team,” Tuovi said.
Yokohama concluded the top Japanese basketball division last season with 24 victories and 36 losses.
Tuovi will be the third Finn of all time in the Japanese league, after Murphy brothers Erik and Alex previously played there.
He has been the head coach of the Finnish national team since 2022 and previously worked at SIG Strasbourg before joining Banchi in Bologna.
